Founded in 2004 and established as a 501(C)3 public benefit corporation, the organization was created to address growing needs in the area of economic sustainability and the gaps between the haves and have nots that exists in many communities.  Believing that both community currency programs and trading systems could be adapted and improved upon, plans were laid to launch Current Innovations.
